FAQ

FAQs - Networks:

Why would I want to put my ad on the Internet and in newspapers?
I can just place a classified ad on the Internet and reach millions of people. Your most successful classified campaign includes both print and online advertising. According to The Newspaper Association of America 67 percent of online newspaper users also read the newspaper in the past seven days. Through CNA, you can have the best of both worlds!

Does CNA run all advertising submitted?
CNA reserves the right to refuse advertising based on content.

How much does it cost?
Depending on where you choose to advertise, your costs will vary. But no matter how few or how many areas you choose, it is far less expensive than placing in each newspaper individually. With CNA you have the ability to tailor your advertising campaign to fit within your budget. Advertising can be placed for as low as 17 cents per 1000 readers.

What is the difference between Classified, 2x2, and 2x4?
Classified ads are text only. 2x2 and 2x4 are display ads and offer multiple formatting options, including logos, photos, or graphics. 2x2 ads are business card sized display ads (3.79-inches wide by 2-inches tall). 2x4 ads are larger display ads (3.79-inches wide by 4-inches tall). 2x2 and 2x4 ads can be black & white or grayscale and are distributed as a PDF file.

Does CNA guarantee that network ads will run in every publication?
No. The circulation and list of participating newspapers are at the discretion of each network and subject to change. Most Networks will guarantee at least 90% of the publications will run each ad.

How often does my network ad run in the newspapers?
Participating newspapers are only expected to run ads once per week. To make your advertising more effective try placing your ad for consecutive weeks. Many networks offer frequency discounts.

FAQs - Display Advertising:

Do I receive tearsheets when I place advertising?
When you place Display advertising through CNA you will receive one tearsheet from each newspaper as proof of publication along with your invoice. (Tear sheets are not available for network advertising.)

Does CNA offer any discounts?
Yes! CNA offers several discount plans:

  • Frequency Discount Plan- Advertise in any participating newspapers and receive 35 percent off of your second insertion within seven days. Contact a Customized Newspaper Advertising account executive for more information and participating newspapers.
  • Campaign Advertising Plan- Are you trying to get your candidate elected? Is there an issue voters will be debating that demands information be presented in a clear, concise, effective manner? The Campaign Advertising Plan (CAP) offers just the right opportunity to get your message in front of voters. Candidates and Advocacy organizations can advertise three ads for the price of one! Ads qualify that are a minimum of 21 column inches, run in a minimum of ten newspapers and require no copy changes. • Remnant Advertising Plan- Have you got an ad that isn't timely but could benefit from the tremendous readership delivered by newspapers? Perhaps CNA's remnant program is what you've been looking for. Advertising qualifying for the remnant program will be billed at 50 percent of the newspapers' rates. Newspapers have one month in which to run the ad. All rates are net.

What are the terms of payment for placing Display advertising?
All new advertisers are subject to prepayment prior to the first insertion date. Net 30 payment terms may be available upon receipt and approval of a completed Credit Application. Payment can be accepted by check or credit card. CNA accepts American Express, MasterCard, or VISA. (Prepayment is required for all network advertising.)

How can I e-mail an ad to CNA?
Adobe Acrobat PDF files allow for easy transmittal of ad copy between advertisers and newspapers. When done correctly, ads in the PDF file format can improve reproduction quality and expedite the placement process.
